Frequently asked questions;

Why are your packages based on time?

We think that this is the fairest way, many car hire firms will charge a flat rate per car for a few hours on hire – if you actually need the cars for less time, why should you pay more? Others may offer a very low rate  but  charge additional time (and mileage) over an hour or so - our packages allow you an informed choice, a fixed price and of course, a substantial saving.

What if we book a package and find we need the cars for more time on the day?

Firstly, we will never rush you, so please don’t worry, if your wedding runs over by just a few minutes, that’s fine, we are flexible. If your wedding runs over by longer, we will simply charge our standard rate of overtime (charged per half hour). It’s worth noting that our timings are based from when we arrive at your first address, unlike others, we do not include the time it takes from our base. Choosing the right package is far cheaper than overtime rates, please allow as much time as you think you will need.

Are there any mileage limits?

Short answer – No.

Are there any additional costs?

Yes - but only where we have to pay congestion charges, toll charges or parking charges, – these are additional costs to you, also time over runs (as above) and any optional extras (Ribbons, Champagne etc) are the only possible extra costs.

Can we pay in stages?

Absolutely, our only requirement is that the total  booking fee is fully paid at least 30 days prior to the wedding date. We accept payments on our contact us page, by bank transfer, cheques, cash and debit & credit cards via paypal.

Can you carry young children?

We can. The hirer must supply appropriate child seats for children up to 3 Years old and/or booster seats for children between 4 and 12 years old, these must be fitted by a parent or Guardian. Our chauffeurs are not permitted to fit the child seats but will assist parents. Please note that child seats may reduce the total number of passenger seats available. We can only fit a maximum of two seats in any one car. Please click on the link below for full information on child seats and the Law. Passengers are required to wear seat belts where fitted.

What happens if we cancel?

Cancellations must be made in writing, by the hirer only. The booking fee (£50 per car) is not refundable, should the hirer cancel within 90 days of the wedding date the balance is due in full. In the event that we secure another booking for the vehicle(s) for the same date all monies will be refunded minus the Booking Fee.

What if I have a special request?

We welcome them! – if you have a special place that you would like us to drive by, or stop at, or have photographs taken at – let us know. If you want us to fix helium balloons or special flowers to the cars, or want a unicorn at your wedding – let us know. It is YOUR Wedding Day, whatever you want, we will be very pleased to help in any way we can.

Do you charge extra for multiple trips?

No - however please bear in mind that even a five minute trip, (say home to ceremony) means a wait of at least 15 minutes, sometimes in bad weather.

What if we are running late?

The only really critical time is the ceremony itself, so if you are late leaving your first address, you may be late for the ceremony. We will do all we can to get you there on time, however please bear in mind that we will never drive over the speed limit or faster than the normal flow of traffic. The best thing to do, is to allow  at least twice   the normal time it would take to travel from a to b, this way the stress levels are reduced and your day will run perfectly.

What about the 'unforeseen'?

We try to make sure that we have no nasty surprises, the day before your wedding, we drive the actual routes, we make a point of being aware of traffic conditions, roadworks, weather conditions. We also check highways alerts or special events that may cause delays. Obviously the unforeseens still exist - we have back up procedures for car breakdowns or traffic accidents, we do all we can to cover the worst case scenarios, none of us can ever be absolutely sure but we minimise the risks as much as possible. We always make a point of stressing to our clients the fact that older cars do not always behave as they should, they are not as reliable as modern cars, the chance of a mechanical issue is far greater with older/classic and vintage cars.

Points to note:

When hiring old /vintage /classic vehicles, you are making the compromise of the vehicles rarity, uniqueness and history and/or its photogenic qualities over reliability. Equally, in hiring a new vehicle, the compromise is reliability over any special rare or historic qualities. In either case, the decision has to made as to which factor is more important to each individual person looking for their wedding transport. If your expectation is nothing less than total reliability, it would not be advisable to opt for an older car. If you do, it is safe to say, that you have made the decision that looks, style and historical qualities are more important to you than reliability. Anyone contemplating hiring a vintage/classic car must never forget these vehicles may be over 50 years old.

All our vehicles are subject to an on-going programme of maintenance but no amount of time and money will ever ensure that they do not suffer from glitches or total breakdown.

What happens if the wedding car is delayed?

There can be several reasons why the car may be delayed. This could be due to traffic congestion, road closures, level crossings, accidents, weather etc. All of which are unforeseen and beyond our control. Another reason which may result in a delay is an ‘issue’ with the car. (infrequent, but not unknown.) For unknown reasons it may decide not to start when required to. Getting the car going again can vary in the time it will take so the length of delay will be unknown at this point. Older cars are more likely to experience these glitches which can often occur more frequently in hot weather. Unfortunately, this is inherent of old cars and anyone wishing to hire one of these old cars must accept that they will not always run as we would wish. They DO NOT perform like a modern vehicle. Anyone considering hiring an old vehicle for their wedding should consider that the chances of glitches and breakdown will be much higher than a modern/new car.
Any delays caused by road or weather problems, as well as a temporary breakdown causing delay, are unforeseen and beyond our reasonable control and must be accepted by the Hirer before making a booking.

What happens if the wedding car breaks down?

This has to be the most frequently asked question but the answer has many different scenarios and therefore a simple answer is not possible. We will try to cover the most obvious situations:

1. Should a car breakdown prior to the hire date and we are unable to rectify the problem in time, wherever possible you will be offered the choice of an alternative vehicle. If the alternative vehicle is more expensive than the original car selected, we will not request further payment, if the alternative vehicle is less expensive, we will reduce your fees accordingly. Should you decide not to accept, or we are unable to provide the alternative vehicle, then all relevant fees will be refunded to you and the hire cancelled.

2. Should a car breakdown or be involved in a traffic accident on the day of hire, this is regarded as an emergency and we reserve the right to substitute another vehicle subject to availability. Where no alternative vehicle is possible or practical, we will prioritise the safe movement of people over all other considerations – i.e.; we will do everything possible to ‘get you to the church on time’ even if this means arranging with local taxi firms to get you on your way. We will refund your fees, proportionate to any hire not completed, less any expenses incurred by us.

3. If you have hired more than one vehicle and one is involved in an accident or a breakdown during the course of the hire period which cannot be rectified, one of the other vehicles may be able step in and you will be on your way as soon as possible. If the vehicle is unable to continue with the itinerary, we reserve the right to substitute another vehicle subject to availability, where an alternative vehicle is supplied by us and is more expensive than the original car selected, we will not request further payment, if the alternative vehicle is less expensive, we will reduce your fees proportionate to the hire part completed. Please remember that sending a replacement vehicle is not always practical due to distance and time constraints. Where no alternative vehicle is possible or practical, we will prioritise the safe movement of people over all other considerations – i.e.; we will do everything possible to ‘get you to the church on time’ even if this means arranging with local taxi firms to get you on your way. We will refund your fees, proportionate to the hire not completed, less any expenses incurred by us.

In either instance, it must be accepted by the Hirer that booking a vehicle does not guarantee its performance. It is a fact of life that unforeseen circumstances happen and are beyond both your and our control. We strongly recommend and advise that you have a back-up travel plan in place before the day begins.

Our first priority is to get our passengers from a to b (& onwards) in a safe and timely manner. Whilst circumstances may force us to make use of cars other than those selected, this should be the main concern for all parties.

How can we pay?

You can pay by bank transfer, credit or debit card (see the payment link on our Contact Us page) or by paypal. You can pay in stages (as much as you wish, whenever you wish).
